Located directly opposite Bergamo airport, near Milan, the Oriocenter is the largest mall in Italy. At the heart of the recent extension to the mall lies the new food court, created by Softroom. Arranged over two levels, it offers 21 different cuisines and has seating for 800 diners. The unique identity of the space is defined by dramatic arched timber structures that create a canopy that filters abundant natural light from a glazed roof overhead.
Joining the columns to the ceiling with the timber-fin arches creates a fluid form that evokes both the arched roof structures of food markets and the canopies of trees reaching for sunlight. Underneath this unifying continuous roofscape a wide variety of different stalls and seating areas each have their own identity.
